Awakening

Into
the Sun

Awakening

I was everything without you
Chilled, I stood there
under the grey sky
realizing for the first time
that I had always been a whole
filled with life and laughter
and not this dark, sullen shell
you’ve turned me into.
I knew then as I heard
the whisper of the wind
whipping through my hair,
as I felt the quickening beat of my heart
that heart which must beat
for only me now
something was coming
and the sound of the rising sun
was so enlightening
and as I stood there under the amber sky
I knew and I could feel
I was everything without you.

Into the Sun

The fiery blades burst forth
from my tongue
to slice your fragile facade
and loosen your heart
from its pedestal
Let all things slip from these
thin and age-old pages
so time falls away from
our fair skin
and we are not made grey
with the passing of the sun
Hold onto what precious
few moments we have together
and fasten yourself to my heart
so I may not in this lifetime forget
all the things you never did.

Promethium

night is come
with the bay of a wolf at the midnight sun
a blaze across
a darkened painting
water-colours fall away and
dissolve
in the foreground
of a wild storm; sparks are
more relevant to fear
and loathing, flames dance on ledges
with angels and harpies
prey upon
the weak-minded and shallow hearts
that fill of hate and burn pride
to charred ashes
of the desolate heavens
someone cries
the sky is falling!
apocalypse now.
